Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all. This is an awesome (in the true sense of the word) day. Although we’re reminding ourselves of an event, the Incarnation, and not a date, I think the date plays a crucial part in reminding us that the Incarnation is an historical event.  The God who exists outside of space and time came into space and time, dwelt among us, taught us, died upon a cross for us, and was resurrected as the first fruits. Christmas reminds us that Christianity is not a “once upon a time” religion, but a religion rooted in history.

If you haven’t already, go read Pope St. Leo’s 21st Sermon sometime today.
